Love Is The Theme…

It’s not You: It’s Me…….

3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but don’t consider the beam that is in your own eye?

4 Or how will you tell your brother,’ Let me remove the speck from your eye;’ and behold, the beam is in your own eye?

5 You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother’s eye.(Matthew 7:3-5)

Often in our relationships with others (family, friends, colleagues…) we get irritated, impatient, sulky because things don’t go our way…..Usually, we place the blame on the other person(s): He/she vs. poor me…….And with this in mind, we often drift into deeper emotions such as anger, resentment and even in worst cases, hardening of the heart towards the person we think offended us……….. However, at times, careful evaluation of the situation reveals that whatever is happening is not a “one man’s business”: It’s a “partners in crime” association, because each of the people involved is not willing to examine a few things.

Focusing on changes We should make in our own behavior, first, can simplify things. We are prompt to judge others by a ruler that we wouldn’t use for ourselves…. No matter how willing we are to live peacefully with others, there are aspects of our character that escape from our attention. Being sincere with ourselves, analyzing our own flaws, and being humble about them is not easy, and we need God’s help with this. But doing that gives us an open heart that is willing to initiate a dialogue with courtesy.

However, there needs to be a balance: Everything that goes wrong should not be on our shoulders (Again, partners in crime……).At times, we will need to confront those we love. Attitude here is very important, as a harsh or disrespectful one can worsen the situation. But ultimately, there needs to be dialogue…………..communication……….talk……
